One of the recent extensive rescue archaeological excavations in the centre of the Prague heritage reserve provided a view into the building history of a large block of houses. This presentation combines the results of an earlier research, with newly gained knowledge in the field of archaeology and building history. The value of the site is underlined by the extent, condition and informative potential of its historic cellars. Although the site suffered a large urban transformation in the past decade, the revealed stratigraphy gives evidence for the development of this area from the 12th to the 20th century. Key situations, revealed in the excavation cover the ancestors of pre-location houses demolished at the end of the 1970s. Their connection with the buildings of Charles IV period is undisputable.
