In chronological order, attention is mainly paid to the Exhibition of Czech Portrait Miniatures and Small Effigies held in 1913, the Exhibition of Photographs in 1914 and especially the exhibition One Hundred Years of Czech Photography in 1939. In this context the formation of the museum's photographic collection is discussed together with the circumstances of the acquisition of photographic work by Frantisek Drtikol. Valuable, hitherto unused, archival evidence of the Museum of Decorative Arts provides a remarkable insight not only into one of the chapters in the history of Czech photography, but also into museum's everyday life, exhibition and publication practice and into the research and cultural-social context of the period.
